These were my first set of domains. Amongst my 1D-4D projects it's clear that i'm exploring this idea of boundaries and what places us, as individuals in these boxes. By exploring this realm I was able to realize that ultimately these boundaries exist based on how we are labeled by society.

Project Idea:

I want to create an interactive installation where the audience can see their identity being placed in a box. Why? I ultimate want to create awareness of these societal labels that are placed on us. Once the user sees this box that they are placed into, then a list of priviledges and struggles associated with that box will move across the screen.

I proposed this idea to some classmates, and lets just say they gave me a lot to think about.

1. Stereotypes is a general word/concept. Which one do you want to focus on?

2. How will you generate these words that describe the priviledge and struggle that the individual faces? Because if these words are only coming from you, then aren't you catering the biases and stereotypes.

3. By doing this are you perpetuating the stereotypes?

4. This is a large topic and you only have 6 weeks?

5. You need to do more research on the difference between labeling and stereotypes.

6. You should figure out what your overall message is than choose a specific label or stereotype (racial, gender ect).

7. Maybe you can exemplify this idea of labels by pointing to real world objects that are labeled.
